Dear Herald team,
I am applying for the Frontend Engineer - AI Products role at Herald. I am a Senior Frontend Engineer with more than 10 years of experience building production web applications with React, TypeScript, Angular, Web Components, React Native, design systems, and complex product workflows.
Herald's work stood out to me because it sits at the intersection of AI, API infrastructure, document-heavy workflows, and a commercial insurance domain where better software can remove a lot of operational drag. I have built frontend systems in similarly demanding environments, including automotive platforms, workforce insight products, analytics flows, and AI-assisted interfaces where the UI has to make complex data easier to understand and act on.
At Lunatech, I built React and React Native products for reporting and workforce insights, created a conversational frontend for AI-powered analysis workflows, and modernized a large Angular platform while keeping delivery stable. At iO Digital, I built a 63-component Web Components design system used across React, Angular, and Vue, and shipped AI-enabled products with streaming interfaces, retrieval workflows, and automated quality checks.
My open-source projects also map closely to this role. AgentDock, Open Vacancy Radar, and Pipenzo are Electron, React, and TypeScript projects focused on local AI agents, job-discovery pipelines, and human-reviewable automation. Dutch Defend, Flits, and GrabPitik show the same hands-on ownership across production UX, payments, entitlement, Firebase, mobile flows, and release work.
I am based in the Netherlands and would need sponsorship or relocation support for a New York hybrid role. If Herald can support that path, I would be excited to help build the frontend architecture, product experience, and AI workflows for a new commercial insurance platform from the ground up.
Sincerely,
Jake Ortega
